    Melghat Tiger Reserve

    Melghat Tiger Reserve is located in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, India. It was one of the first nine tiger reserves established in 1973 under Project Tiger. The reserve is part of the Satpura mountain range and covers an area of approximately 2,769 sq km.

    Key Features of Melghat Tiger Reserve:
    Flora: Dry deciduous forests dominated by teak, along with bamboo, mahua, and other native species.
    Fauna: Apart from tigers, the reserve is home to leopards, Indian gaur, sloth bears, sambar deer, barking deer, wild boars, and a variety of birds and reptiles.
    Rivers: Major rivers include the Tapti, Khandu, and Sipna.
    Climate: The region experiences hot summers, moderate monsoons, and cool winters.

    Tourist Attractions:
    Semadoh: A popular eco-tourism spot with forest rest houses.
    Chikhaldara: A nearby hill station offering stunning viewpoints.
    Gugamal National Park: A core part of the reserve.
    Dhakna and Kolkas: Wildlife viewing points.

    Best Time to Visit:
    October to June is ideal for wildlife sightings. The monsoon season (July-September) sees heavy rainfall and limited tourist activity.
