Introduction
The task of accelerating rural development work has been primarily entrusted to the Zilla Parishad and the face of the rural area is rapidly brightening up due to the implementation of various types of development schemes. Due to district planning, programs are now being formulated and implemented according to local requirements. Since May 1, 1962, i.e. since the establishment of the Zilla Parishad, the government has transferred the government schemes and works to the Zilla Parishad and given them to be implemented on an agency basis. The Zilla Parishad has paid special attention to the overall development of the rural areas of the district by implementing the local sector schemes. The Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Water Conservation, Welfare of Backward Classes, Health, Drinking Water, Rural Roads, Rehabilitation of Project Affected Persons, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Maharashtra Gramin Jeevan Unnati Abhiyan, Integrated Child Development Project, etc. The Zilla Parishad is active in implementing schemes and works . As per the notification dated 1st May 1981 , there were 13 talukas and 13 Panchayat Samiti in this district. Also, from 1st May 1999, the new Dhamangaon Railway Taluka was created by dividing some villages of Tivasa and Chandur Railway Talukas. Therefore, there are currently 14 Panchayat Samiti and 14 talukas in the district.
